I have noticed that pitbulls are getting more and more popular, but something seems to be getting lost in the translation. I see people out there who are buying dogs and no matter how they turn out they are breeding them just to turn a profit. I don't see anything wrong with selling dogs for good money and if you wind up making some profit, Hard work deserves to be rewarded.
The only thing I have a problem with is that a breeding program should have the betterment of the breed as its first priority. Every pup is not going to turn out being breeding quality, in fact very few pups are going to be good enough to better the breed. Even if you buy first pick pups they might grow up having more flaws than the runt of the litter. I am not trying to stop anyone from doing what they want to do, but you need to educate your self in order to make good decisions.
Recently we have been selling the majority of our pups to existing or new kennels.
So here at Buchanan we have decided to start a kennel club. If you like our style of dog and want to breed them you will have the option of joining the club. If you buy your pup through the club you will get it at a set rate. The pups will be reviewed at six, twelve, and eighteen months. If during this time the pup is deemed not to be breeding quality it will be spayed/ neutered placed in a good home and replaced with another pup/dog until you have breeding quality dog/dogs. The club will also have a site that helps sell pups, promote studs and females for the members. Members will also recieve life time support on training, breeding, whelping, diet, and over all health.
